Slow Down & Restore

The Nervous System and the Science of Deep Rest

A free 90-minute course on deep rest, the nervous system and Restorative Yoga.

When you join my newsletter, you receive The Nervous System and the Science of Deep Rest. Ninety minutes on why deep rest has become difficult, what happens in the nervous system when the body feels safe enough to let go, and a guided practice with two options. Then a welcome series of eight emails, and a letter about twice a month.

What is inside the free course?

The Nervous System and the Science of Deep Rest runs about ninety minutes and moves from teaching into practice. It is recorded, you start whenever you like, and you’ll have access for 30 days.

The teaching covers why deep rest is difficult today, what Restorative Yoga really is and how it differs from Yin Yoga and from a nap, the nervous system from activation to regulation, the role of silence, and what current research does and does not allow us to claim.

A short mindful check-in helps you sense what your body and nervous system need today, so the practice becomes a response rather than one more thing to do.

Then a guided practice with two options. A supported backbend over a folded blanket, or a supported forward bend if you feel agitated or need more containment today. I give the contraindications for each so you can choose knowingly.

You’ll need a few blankets, a chair, and something soft to place over your eyes. Pillows and towels work perfectly well.

About Audrey

Portrait of Audrey Favreau in her studio

I’m Audrey Favreau, a Restorative Yoga teacher, trainer, and author.

Since 2015, I have trained more than 1,300 students and certified over 350 Restorative Yoga teachers in Europe and internationally. I have studied more than 450 hours with Judith Hanson Lasater and more than a thousand hours in total.

I am one of three teachers designated by Judith Hanson Lasater to certify in the Relax and Renew® lineage, alongside Judith and Lizzie Lasater, who certify directly.

My teaching is grounded in close observation, thoughtful adaptation, and the belief that comfort is never a minor detail.

I’m also the author of The Teacher’s Guide to Restorative Yoga, published by North Atlantic Books in June 2026, with a foreword by Lizzie Lasater.

“Audrey was able to translate science into common day language so that I could follow easily. The poses were very relaxing and a big revelation for me. I have done teacher training on restorative yoga already but this course is on a much deeper level of relaxation.”
Isabella, Austria

“I really enjoy your way of teaching, not finding very many teachers that work with the finesse I learned from Judith Hanson Lasater.”
Peggy, Netherlands
